Systems Analyst - System Administrator (Manager 180)

Position Summary & Description
Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) invites applications for the position of Systems Analyst (Manager 180) in Information Technology (IT) Services (www.iup.edu/ITSupportCenter).
This position's typical responsibilities include participation in the analysis, selection, design, development, implementation, documentation, administration, maintenance and support of a variety of information technology systems and services. Other responsibilities includeresearching and resolving information technology problems and issues directed to the IT Support Center. This position works closely with other units to provide production support for all information systems.
Position Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required. BS in Computer Science, MIS or a related field is preferred
and
Two years of system/network administration experience.
A bachelor's degree in computer science, MIS or a related field can substitute for 18 months of experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred candidates will possess skills and experience in a systems and network administration environment, including some of the following:
Strong background in IT Security with experience building secure multi-user systems
Strong Background in Redhat Linux System Administration using standard utilities for automation of tasks
Knowledge of Windows Server System Administration
Experience configuring web services including Apache httpd and Tomcat in a secure fashion, Microsoft IIS
Experience with mysql/sql
Experience automating system administration tasks using scripting tools
Experience with backup and data recovery systems
Knowledge of network storage systems
Ability to work in a team based environment
Candidates must have the communication skills and cross-cultural abilities to maximize their effectiveness with diverse groups of students, colleagues, and community members.
Candidates must communicate effectively and perform well in interview(s).
Essential Functions
The work of this position occurs in a typical office environment. Although infrequent, periods of heavy exertion may occur. Incumbent must have the following abilities:
Ability to travel to field locations and meeting/training sites by motor vehicle when required.
Communicate both orally and in writing to issue, receive and carry out instructions and orders effectively and to convey information to a variety of co-workers and the general public.
Use a variety of common office machines such as telephones, calculators, copiers, computer terminals, keyboards, video display terminals, auxiliary printers and similar equipment.
Perform manual duties such as lifting and carrying various weight limits.
Operate office equipment which may require stooping, kneeling, bending, stretching and prolonged standing.
Provide assistance and guidance to internal and external customers.
Follow oral and written instructions.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
