Field Mechanic - Oil & Gas

Job Description


The field technician is responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical, electrical, air systems and hydraulic components while having the ability to utilize all facets of their technical background to support the majority of components on the customer's equipment, such as, mud pumps, ST-80's, catwalks, cranes, crushers, shredders, conveyors, construction equipment, etc.


  • Abide by safety, quality, environmental, and sanitation regulations.

  • Weld, repair, and fabricate equipment or machinery.

  • Set up and operate portable boring, drilling, milling machines, and other related field tools and equipment.

  • Operate and inspect machines or heavy equipment to diagnose defects.

  • Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers' specifications.

  • Read and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings.

  • Overhaul and test machines or equipment to ensure operating efficiency.

  • Fit bearings to adjust, repair, or overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.

  • Examine parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges.

  • Repair, rewire, and troubleshoot electrical systems.

  • Adjust, maintain, and repair or replace subassemblies, such as transmissions and crawler heads, using hand tools, jacks, and cranes.

  • Clean parts by spraying them with grease solvent or immersing them in tanks of solvent.

  • Weld or solder broken parts wand structural members, using electric or gas welders and soldering tools.

  • Assemble gear systems, and align frames and gears.

  • Fabricate needed parts or items from sheet metal.


  • 5+ years' experience in drilling rig equipment rebuild and repair.

  • 5+ years' hydraulic troubleshooting and repair.

  • Welding and machining experience preferred.

  • Willingness to travel to customer site to perform necessary repairs. May include holidays, nights, and weekends.

  • Ability to work various and long hours as needed.

  • Valid driver's license required.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
