Department of Safety Sciences - OSHA Consultation Program - Temporary Faculty

Position Summary & Description
Indiana University of Pennsylvania invites applications for a Safety/Industrial Hygiene Consultant position in the Safety Sciences Department. This is a temporary, full-time position to begin on October 1, 2018. The position is grant-funded with the expectation (but no guarantee) of annual renewal each year on October 1.
The Safety/Industrial Hygiene Consultant will provide on-site safety and industrial hygiene consultation assistance to small, private-sector businesses in Pennsylvania as stipulated under agreement with the Department of Labor (OSHA); services include hazard identification, evaluation of hazards by multiple means including air contaminant and noise exposure monitoring, compliance correction assistance, safety management program assistance and development, training and education. The qualified applicant will be required to work independently. This position requires extensive travel throughout the Commonwealth of PA.
Position Qualifications
Required Qualifications
A baccalaureate or master's degree in safety, health or related discipline is required. Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA's safety and health standards and regulations, industrial and construction processes, industrial hygiene sampling techniques, proficiency in MS Office and general knowledge of web based applications is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the practice of safety and industrial hygiene and certified as a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification and/or Certified Safety Professional (CSP). Past experience working with OSHA Enforcement and/or OSHA Consultation will be given consideration.
Candidates must communicate effectively in writing and verbally, have the ability to make oral presentations and perform well during the interview(s).
Essential Functions
The work of this position occurs in a typical office environment. Although infrequent, periods of heavy exertion may occur. Incumbent must have the following abilities:
Ability to travel to field locations and meeting/training sites by motor vehicle when required.
Communicate both orally and in writing to issue, receive and carry out instructions and orders effectively and to convey information to a variety of co-workers and the general public.
Use a variety of common office machines such as telephones, calculators, copiers, computer terminals, keyboards, video display terminals, auxiliary printers and similar equipment.
Perform manual duties such as lifting and carrying various weight limits.
Operate office equipment which may require stooping, kneeling, bending, stretching and prolonged standing.
Provide assistance and guidance to internal and external customers.
Follow oral and written instructions.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
