Summary
The Department of Food and Nutrition at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) invites applications for one full time, tenure-track appointment beginning in August 2019.
The Food and Nutrition Department, is one of nine in the College of Health and Human Services and offers a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition, a Master of Science in Food and Nutrition, and a Dietetic Internship. At the undergraduate level, the B.S. curriculum includes three tracks: dietetics, nutrition, and culinary dietetics. The dietetics, culinary dietetics, and dietetic internship are accredited by the Accreditation Council for the Education of Nutrition and Dietetics. The Master's Program is delivered online and has two tracks, Education and Administration.
Duties
Major teaching responsibilities include a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses in food and nutrition.
Other required responsibilities include:
Student advising, research, curriculum development, assessment, and student supervision.
Involvement in service activities that support the department, university, community, and profession.
The successful candidate may be assigned to perform work at off-campus sites and/or provide undergraduate and graduate instruction through distance education.
Position Qualifications
Required
Doctorate in Human Nutrition or a related field by the date of appointment.
Demonstrated knowledge in food and nutrition.
Ability to teach large groups, work collaboratively, use learning management systems, and show a commitment to pursuing an active research agenda.
The department is interested in candidates who are committed to excellence by providing leadership in teaching, research, and service towards building an equitable and diverse scholarly environment.
Candidates must communicate effectively and perform well during the interview(s), which may include a teaching demonstration and/or a research seminar.
Preferred
Candidates whose experience includes:
Nutrition science, public health/ community nutrition and policy, clinical nutrition, nutrition education & counseling, and/or food systems management.
Publications/research and/or grant writing experience.
Registered Dietitian credential and licensure (or eligibility for licensure).
Experience supervising interns and leadership in professional organizations.
Essential Functions
The work of this position occurs in a typical office environment. Although infrequent, periods of heavy exertion may occur. Incumbent must have the following abilities:
Ability to travel to field locations and meeting/training sites by motor vehicle when required.
Communicate both orally and in writing to issue, receive and carry out instructions and orders effectively and to convey information to a variety of co-workers and the general public.
Use a variety of common office machines such as telephones, calculators, copiers, computer terminals, keyboards, video display terminals, auxiliary printers and similar equipment.
Perform manual duties such as lifting and carrying various weight limits.
Operate office equipment which may require stooping, kneeling, bending, stretching and prolonged standing.
Provide assistance and guidance to internal and external customers.
Follow oral and written instructions.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
